Veronica

My name is Veronica, and I just turned 40. I was born in a community called Pakun, not too far from here. I am a mother of five, a farmer, and a guardian of the forest.

Among my responsibilities is teaching children how to care for nature and understand that the water we drink comes from the forests we protect. I believe in the connection between the environment and daily life.

I joined the project because I felt the need to give back to the earth that has always provided us with everything.

My name is Irumí, and I am a grandmother to 12 grandchildren. I am 60 years old, and they call me Iru.

I have dedicated my life to guiding the women in my community. Now, I support the younger women in supervising the water system. For me, to lead is to care for others, and to care for others is to teach the new generations to value what we have.

I agreed to be a volunteer because I want to see the knowledge of elder women continue to bear fruit and provide hope.
